100 Women for Barbara Lee
Across generations, women have shaped the course of history.
Now, we invite 100 extraordinary women to come together to support Mayor Barbara Lee’s continued leadership.
Each woman will commit to give/raise $2,500 by May 15.
Together, we will carry this work forward—for Oakland.
Why Support Mayor Barbara Lee?
Mayor Barbara Lee has spent a lifetime standing up for women, families, Oakland, and the nation.
Over four decades of leadership, she has:
Established herself as one of the nation's most respected moral voices for human rights, peace, economic justice, and equality.
Fought consistently to protect reproductive freedom and women's health
Delivered billions in federal investment for the Bay Area, supporting housing, transportation, healthcare, and economic development
Advocated for workers, seniors, veterans, and families living in poverty
Mentored and inspired hundreds of women to run for office and lead in public life
Been the only member of Congress to vote against the blank check for war after 9/11, standing courageously for peace and constitutional authority
Led historic efforts to fund HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention, helping secure billions for global health programs such as PEPFAR
And today, she continues that leadership as Mayor of Oakland with hope, pride, and joy.
A Lifetime of Supporting Women
Mayor Barbara Lee's commitment to equality began early.
As a teenager, she successfully fought to desegregate her high school cheerleading squad — her first victory for justice.
Inspired by trailblazers like Shirley Chisholm, Barbara Lee has spent her life opening doors for others.
From her early work as a college student at Mills College to being a single mother of two boys and a member of the Black Panthers to becoming one of the most respected voices in Congress, she has never stopped fighting for:
women's rights
racial justice
healthcare access
economic opportunity
peace.
She has helped thousands of families access housing, mutual aid, championed young leaders, and mentored countless women who now serve in public office.
Barbara Lee leads with faith, courage, compassion, and joy — and she continues to inspire women everywhere to step forward and lead.
At 15, Barbara Lee worked with the NAACP to change her school’s cheerleader selection process—and became San Fernando High School’s first Black cheerleader.
Trailblazer Shirley Chisholm with Barbara Lee, the mentor who helped inspire her lifelong commitment to public service.
For decades, Barbara Lee has supported and uplifted women in the fight for equality and opportunity.100 WOMEN COMMITTEE
