A Message from Mayor Lee on Working for a Better Oakland

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as Mayor of our extraordinary city, Oakland.
Together, we made history, and now we are doing the work to deliver for our communities.
This moment demands urgency and unity. Oakland has the talent, creativity, and heart to meet our challenges head-on. That is why my administration is governing with transparency, accountability, and results that reflect the needs of every neighborhood.
We have already begun delivering on our commitments to Oakland – passing a budget that protects essential services; investing in comprehensive public safety strategies that address the root causes of crime that includes law enforcement, violence prevention, and community policing; re-opening closed fire stations; streamlining permitting to support small businesses; creating jobs and opportunities for youth; and bringing together employers and community partners to revitalize our city – with more to come.
We are restoring pride across Oakland as a city of artists, organizers, entrepreneurs, working families, and visionaries. As your Mayor, my main focus is remaining hands-on and responsive to address your priorities.
